In this article, we explain how to set and manage your recruiting budget on Indeed by choosing the right ad type, setting daily spending limits, and controlling the duration of your post. These steps help you stay in control—whether you’re scaling quickly or pacing your recruiting efforts.
Step 1: Navigate to the Sponsor Job Page #
After creating a new job post on Indeed, you’ll eventually land on the “Sponsor Job” screen. This is where you choose how your job ad will be promoted. There are a few options:
- Standard or Premium: These are Indeed’s preset plans with suggested daily budgets.
- Custom Budget: This option gives you full control over how much you spend per day.
Tip: Selecting the Custom Budget option allows you to enter a daily spend amount that fits your recruiting goals and marketing budget.
Step 2: Set Your Budget and Ad Duration #
With the custom budget selected, you can:
- Adjust your daily budget to any dollar amount you prefer.
- Pause the ad at any time—especially useful if you’re receiving more applicants than you can manage or if you reach your monthly spend before the month is out.
- Set a specific end date for the ad so that it stops automatically.
These controls are helpful if you’re working with a defined monthly budget or want to run ads during specific recruiting pushes (e.g., around career nights or team expansion events).
In this step, you can also choose to bypass setting your budget and instead create a free post. This may not be available for all users.
Step 3: Save and Launch #
Once your budget and schedule are set:
- Click Save and Continue
- Your job post will be submitted for review by Indeed. This process typically takes just a few hours.
- Once approved, you’ll receive an email confirming the post is live and applications will start to come in.
Step 4: Monitor Job Status #
To check the status of your post:
- Go back to your Jobs dashboard in the Indeed Employer portal.
- You’ll see your job marked as Pending, Open, or Closed, depending on its current status.
Using a custom budget gives you more flexibility and control as you test and refine your recruiting ads. Whether you’re running consistent national campaigns or occasional local ads, this approach allows you to stay efficient and responsive to your team’s needs.
