Phone Number Set Up and A2P Registration

4 min read

To send SMS messages from your Profit Share or Market Center Site, you’ll need to purchase a phone number and complete A2P (Application-to-Person) registration. This process includes verifying your identity, submitting business details, and setting up compliance messaging.

Below is a step-by-step guide to walk you through the entire setup.

Step 1: Purchase a Phone Number #

  1. Log in to app.profitsharesites.com.
  2. From the dashboard, click Settings in the lower-left corner.
  3. Scroll to and select Phone Numbers.
  4. Click Add Number, then Add Phone Number.
  5. Filter by your preferred area code (e.g., 614) and click Apply.
  6. Browse results and choose a number from a nearby city.
  7. Click Proceed to Buy next to the number you want.

Do This Before You Start Your A2P Application #

After you purchase the phone number and before you get too far into the A2P process, you’ll want to verify a few things. First, A2P application for SMS texting may require you to have a business tied to your W9. Next, you’ll want to make sure any form collecting a phone number on your site is edited to include a few things:

  • SMS number you’ve purchased
  • Instructions for opting out
  • A non-required phone number field

To edit your Join Keller Williams form to comply with this, follow the steps below:

    1. Navigate to Forms: From the Dashboard, click “Sites” in the vertical navigation along the left. Along the top, select “Forms” then, from the dropdown that appears, click “Builder.”
    2. Find the Form to Edit: Locate the form to edit (likely titled “Join KW” or something similar; you may want to double check the other forms as well to see if they need to be edited as well.
    3. Remove the Phone Number Requirement: Open the form you wish to edit, then select the Phone Number field which will open the editor on the right side of the screen. Deselect the “Required” field.
    4. Delete the Opt-In (if there is one): Select the disclaimer opt-in text box which will open the editor on the right of the screen and click the trash can delete button in the highlighted field.
    5. Add a Text Disclaimer: In the Add Elements section on the left side of the screen, scroll down until you see the “Customized” section of elements. Drag over the “Text” element and place it above the CAPTCHA “I’m Not A Robot” verification. In the editor at right, change the size to 14 px. In the field at the top of the edit replace “Text” with the disclaimer pasted below and replace the highlighted elements with your applicable information (the disclaimer has been italicized below for clarity but does not need to be italicized on the form):

By providing my phone number, I consent to receive phone calls and SMS notifications (appointment reminders, update requests, and status check-ins) from {{INSERT YOUR W9 BUSINESS NAME}}. Message frequency varies. Message & data rates may apply. Text HELP to {{INSERT YOUR NEWLY PURCHASED NUMBER}} or email us at {{INSERT YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS}} for assistance. You can reply STOP to unsubscribe at any time.
    6. Hit the blue “Save” button in the upper right
    7. Repeat for any other form that requests a phone number.

Step 2: Verify Your Identity with Persona #

Before you can complete the purchase:

    1. When prompted, click Begin Verifying or I saved my ID with Persona.
    2. Use a valid photo ID (e.g., driver’s license).
    3. On your phone, scan the QR code shown on screen.
    4. Take a clear photo of your ID and follow the face scan prompts.
    5. Wait for the green checkmark confirming successful verification.

Step 3: Update Your Website Disclaimer with the Phone Number #

    Once your number is active:

    1. Right-click on your phone number in the system and choose Open Link in New Tab.
    2. Copy the number (Ctrl+C or Command+C).
    3. Return to the main dashboard and go to Sites > Forms & Builder.
    4. Click Website Forms, then select Join KW.
    5. Scroll to the disclaimer section and open it.
    6. Find the area with placeholder pound signs (###-###-####) and paste your new number.
    7. Click Save at the top to confirm changes.

    Step 4: Begin A2P Registration #

    Business Profile #

    1. Go to the A2P Registration section.
    2. Confirm your business type (e.g., U.S.-based, Corporation).
    3. Enter your legal business name, EIN, industry (Real Estate), business email, and website URL.
    4. Input your exact business address as shown on your W9 (including correct abbreviations like “PKWY” instead of “Parkway”).
    5. Enter the representative’s name, email, phone number, and title (e.g., Market Center Administrator).

    Brand & Campaign Setup #

    1. For brand details, select Low Volume Standard, then check the Acknowledgment box.
    2. In the Campaign Details section:
      • Select Low Volume.
      • Copy/paste the smallest use-case description from the provided options.
      • Replace placeholder names with your own contact’s (e.g., change “Adam” to “Diana”).
      • Use “Keller Williams Realty” as the Market Center name.
    3. For Sample Messages:
      • Paste two examples and personalize them.
      • Confirm the message references your actual website (e.g., joinkwdenton.com/join-keller-williams).
      • Test the link in a new tab to ensure it works correctly.

Step 5: Submit the Application #

    1. Double-check all fields are complete and accurate.
    2. Click Submit.

You’ll be redirected to a confirmation screen.

    • The brand status will appear as “In Progress”.
    • It typically takes 1–2 business days for approval.

Step 6: Finalize and Pay #

    Once your brand is approved:

    1. Re-enter the Trust Center in Profit Share Sites.
    2. Review your previously submitted campaign details.
    3. Confirm and re-submit.
    4. When prompted, pay the one-time fee (approximately $23).

Step 7: Enable SMS Reply Forwarding #

    1. Go back to SMTP Service > Reply Forward Settings.
    2. Toggle on Forward to Assigned User.
    3. Click Save.

This ensures replies to your automated SMS messages are routed to the appropriate contact owner.

✅ That’s it! You’ve successfully completed the initial A2P SMS brand registration process and set up a dedicated phone number. Once again, in a few days you’ll need to come back, confirm that the brand is approved, and submit the Campaign piece of the application. It takes 2-4 days for the Campaign piece to go through review and approval.
