How to Turn On & Use the Apply URL Feature on Indeed

In this quick tutorial, we explain how to ensure applicants on Indeed are directed to your custom application page, specifically the unique “Join” page on your recruiting site—using Indeed’s Apply URL feature. This small setting can make a big difference by keeping all your recruiting leads in one place.

What Is the Apply URL? #

When someone clicks “Apply” on an Indeed job post, they’re either:

  • Applying directly on Indeed (default behavior, in which you’ll receive an email), or
  • Redirected to an external application page (known as the Apply URL)

This feature allows you to send applicants straight to your own site—such as a custom /join-KW or /join-keller-williams page—rather than collecting submissions through Indeed’s platform.

Check the Application Method #

To find this setting in an existing ad:

  1. Open your existing job post in the Indeed Employer dashboard.
  2. Locate the Application method under job settings.
  3. If it currently shows an email address, that means applicants are submitting their info through Indeed.

To change this:

  • Click Edit
  • Toggle the Apply on Indeed button to Off
  • Replace the email with your external Apply URL
  • Make sure this URL points directly to the page where applicants can submit their information
  • Save your changes

If you are unable to change this, you’ll need to contact Indeed Support and request they turn this feature on.

Request Access If Needed #

Not seeing the option to change the application method? You may not yet have access to the Apply URL feature.

Here’s how to request it:

  1. While inside the Indeed employer dashboard, scroll to the top of the page.
  2. Click the Help button.
  3. Choose to Chat, Call, or Send a Message to their support team.
  4. Request that they enable the Apply URL feature on your account.
  5. Be prepared to share the full URL of your application page so they can review and approve it.

Once approved, you’ll be able to route all applicants directly to your KW recruiting site, giving you more control over their experience and ensuring they’re properly entered into your systems.

Using the Apply URL not only streamlines your recruiting workflow, but also keeps you from missing leads that may otherwise stay inside Indeed’s system.
