In this video, you learned how to check whether a contact has opened an email by reviewing their contact card message history. This is especially helpful when someone says they didn’t receive a message.
Where to Look #
- Locate the Contact or Opportunity.
- Open the person’s Contact Card.
- Scroll to the activity feed where emails and text messages are listed.
You’ll see a series of envelope icons next to each email.
Understanding the Email Icons #
- Green open envelope
✅ The email was opened. - Blue closed envelope
❌ The email has not been opened.
Note: You can see that an email was opened, but not how long it was viewed or whether it was fully read.
When Someone Says “I Didn’t Get the Email” #
You have a couple of easy options:
Option 1: Reference the Original Send #
You can confirm the exact send time (for example: February 9 at 9:07 AM) and let them know what subject line to search for, such as:
“Just a quick reminder, complete modules one and two.”
Option 2: Reply Directly From the Message #
- Click on the email inside the contact card.
- Select Reply (or use the three-dot menu).
- Send a quick follow-up like:
“Hey — take a look at the rest of this email. Here’s the message that includes the info about modules one and two.”
This lets you resend or clarify without starting from scratch.
Why This Matters #
Checking email open status helps you:
- Confirm delivery when contacts are unsure
- Follow up faster and more confidently
- Avoid resending messages unnecessarily
- Keep conversations moving forward
That’s it — a simple way to verify engagement and respond quickly when someone says they missed a message.
